Carol Service

Feeling christmassy?

This Tuesday 6th December the Christian Union will be hosting a Carol Service in town at St Thomas Church. There will be carols led by the brass band and the gospel choir, a message about what Christians believe this time of year is all about, a chance to hear about what’s coming up next term and after the service is over we will be serving cake and hot drinks! Text your question on Christianity and the flavour of toastie you would like, along with your block and flat number to the numbers below. Someone from the Christian Union will bring you your toastie and do their best to answer your question.

Making Sense of Our World

In week 4 we are beginning a new series of Lunchbar talks entitled ‘Making Sense of Our World’.This series will run for two weeks and the topic titles are as follows:

Week 4 (Thursday 3rd November) – ‘Making Senseof Life’ – in Fylde Common Room
Week 5 (Thursday 10th November) – ‘Making Sense of Death‘ – in Fylde Common Room

Lunchbar will take place on the Thursday of both weeks and runs from 1pm- 1.50pm. Everyone is welcome!

Acoustic Night – 12th October

The talented guitarist Lewis Green will be performing this Wednesday at Lancaster University. Lewis will be playing some of his own music and will also be sharing with us the meaning of his songs. All are welcome. We look forward to seeing you there!

Free Thinking Follow Up Course

Starting Monday 12th February 2011 for four weeks till Monday 14 March

Time: 18:00-19:00

Location: Lancaster University Furness SCR (next to the bar)

This is an event following the ‘Thirsty’ events hosted by the Christian Union the other week and it is just a chance to look a bit deeper than lunchbars or evening talks were able to do.

Why not join us for four ONE HOUR slots across the next four MONDAY’S looking at Mark’s gospel and what Christianity believe and why! It will be a chance to ask any questions you like and just to find out a little bit more!

CU AGM

Just a quick reminder to you all that the central meeting this coming Tuesday (15th February) will be our AGM where we vote in the new exec members for the coming year. We need as many of you as possible to attend so that LUSU have the required number of eligible voters.

Missions Week

What a success Missions week was with so many people coming along each day (>100 to each of the daily lunchbars!). We hope that all of you who came along had a great time and that you really enjoyed the talks, many of them shall be available online within the next few days if you wish to listen to them again.

Thirsty in Lancaster – Events Week 2011 – Text for a Toasty CANCELLED

Due to circumstances beyond our control the CU exec have decided to cancel the planned Text for a Toasty that was to be run this coming Friday 28th January 2011.

All other events week activities are unchanged, so look out for the:
Open Mic Night on Monday night
College Group Events on Tuesday night
Evening Talks on the Theme of ‘Hope’ on Wednesday to Friday night
Lunchbars everyday next week from 1 till 2pm.
